Ritch Miller

Texas, 1925 – Majorca, 1991

Painter. In his early works, human loneliness and angst appeared distorted by horror, sunken in despair. An abstract stage led on from this which prolonged the world view expressed in the faces of his subjects. After that came to an uneasy world where the human presence is absent, with desolate landscapes and still lifes. Figures of men dressed as brides, elderly Native Americans with limp feathers, boys in lace, old fat men dressed as women or bishops, tightrope walkers and princesses are common themes.
